A 10-foot tall sculpture made entirely of carefully shaped and polished red, orange, and yellow glass pieces. The glass is arranged to resemble a giant, frozen flame. The individual shards range from opaque to translucent, creating depth and variation. Hidden within the sculpture are hundreds of tiny fiber optic lights that pulse and flicker, giving the illusion of movement. The base of the sculpture is a highly polished black granite circle, 15 feet in diameter, that reflects the glass flame, making it appear twice as large. As viewers walk around the piece, the interplay of light and reflection creates the illusion that the flame is actually moving.
